Let me know what you think of the new design. The only substantive change so far is that I have added a way to subscribe to posts by email. Thanks to the reader who suggested this.
One of these days, I might get my entire web site into the 21st century.
UPDATE: I went back to the old design, until I can figure out how to configure a new one. I tried editing the .css file by hand, and it did nothing to change the font-size on blockquotes, which was large and annoying.
First! I claim first!
People like color, so the color banner will draw the masses. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad.
I’m not sure that everything should be made as easy as possible. Yet not everyone wants the same features, so “subscribe to posts by email” will be highly appreciated by some of your readers.
The new format makes the letter font much larger and thus I can’t scan nearly as much text at once as previously, and will be scrolling up and down much more often.
What would previously be on page on my machine would currently take at least one scroll down, and appear on two screens.
You could call this “Default old readership” rather than “default young readership.”
Or “reading is hard…just give me a few words at a time.”
Technote: Currently I am in Safari on a MacBook Pro. At work I use a different environment.
It’s a clean, modern look — I like it.
I haven’t looked at this on my computer yet, but on my phone block quotes are disproportionately large.
Like the look a lot.
Spicy!
Unfortunately, the new site renders extremely tiny font with my preferred smartphone browser, without dynamic reformatting after the pinch expansion. That’s really annoying.
